Welcome to Tablao Flamenco Albuquerque
A tablao is an intimate venue where flamenco shows are performed, highlighting the improvisation between the baile (dance), cante (song), and toque (guitar). Inspired by the Cafés Cantantes of Andalucía in the 19th century, the modern tablao emerged in the 1950s, and was made popular during the 1950s and 1960s throughout Spain. Tablaos’ unique built-in intimacy among dancers and musicians has made fertile ground for master artists to emerge for generations. Every major city in Spain has a tablao, as tablaos house the artistic expression and interchange that is flamenco.
Through a unique partnership based on cultural preservation, Heritage Hotels and Resorts and the nonprofit National Institute of Flamenco (501c3) have joined efforts to create Tablao Flamenco Alburquerque.
